Linda Bean is in her 22nd year as band director at Cullman Middle School in Cullman, Alabama. Mrs. Bean directs the advanced middle school band program including marching, concert, and jazz bands. In addition, Mrs. Bean directs the CMS, East Elementary, and West Elementary beginning band programs. Linda has been an active participant in the Southeastern All Star Music Camp for 26 years. She is a graduate of Fairview High School, attended Wallace State College, where she received her Associates of Arts degree. She also received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Montevallo and a Master of Music Education degree from the University of North Alabama. Mrs. Bean credits her interest in music education to the direction of renowned band director Steve McClendon whom she began studying trumpet under at Fairview High School. Most recently, Mrs. Bean served as a presenter at the Desire2Learn - Fusion 2008 Conference where she demonstrated how technology may be utilized to facilitate band instruction and her article "Technology and the Tuba" was published in the "Ala Breve". At the 2009 Desire2Learn Users Conference the CMS Band Course was featured as one of twelve international courses honored for innovative use of technology. Mrs. Bean is also actively involved in the study and research of aural/sensory techniques used to facilitate stroke rehabilitation. Linda is married to Robert Bean and has two children, Robert and Marie Bean. Her professional affiliations include MENC, AEA and the Who's Who of American High School Teachers.
